Thank you for a very informative, intuitive and thoughtful session today. I needed guidance and appreciate Alison putting me on a path to self-help and professional guidance. I look forward to my instructions and my next appointment!
I have been living with Achilles tendinitis for two years. When I would wake up in the morning, my feet were in so much pain. I could barely walk to the bathroom when I came to see Alison at Granite Sports Medicine in July of this year I could barely do calf lifts. Today was my final session with her. I did the exercises and kept to the nutrition program that she suggested and in six months I went from being unable to walk to the bathroom to be able to push and pull 125 pound sled across the gym, doing as many step ups on a boxes I like, and my day-to-day life has been returned to me. I can walk my dog, I can go fishing, I can hike. What more proof do you want? The team here is excellent. -
I went to Granite Sports Medicine per doctor script for pelvic floor PT.
To say the least, I was quite skeptical, yet I went with as open mind as possible. Alison was extremely knowledgeable. She taught me exercises I had never of and I decided to really give it a try. WOW! I couldn't believe it worked and fast. Having the nickname "Tiny Tank" for frequent bathroom breaks and waking up six to eight times a night was taking a toll on me. Well, let me be honest. Alison's technique's work! It has been amazing! I have learned so much, I sleep WAY longer. I am even lifting heavier and I am one happy client! If you are a "Tiny Tank" like me and are looking for natural way to improve your issue. Go to Granite Sports Medicine, Alison is the gal for your issue!
10 out of 10 rating from me! Thank you Alison! You are the best!

Alison is an exceptional PT. As a healthcare provider myself , it feels wonderful to be cared for by a provider that takes such a detailed approach to patient care. Alison is obviously very passionate about her work, stays up to date on current research and provides very holistic care and education. After struggling with a back injury for many months and making little progress in my recovery, I finally felt hopeful once I started seeing Alison. Now I’m well on the road to full recovery and am incredibly grateful for her guidance and treatment.
I could not say enough good things about Granite! I worked with Allison, and she help me work through three different chronic, and at times debilitating, physical issues. Granite has turned me into a huge believer of PT. For me, this is absolutely an extension of my regular healthcare. They just have important knowledge and experience that doctors and specialists don't.
The providers take an evidence based approach to not only PT, but also the strength training. Having had multiple knee surgeries over last 20 years, I've had plenty of mediocre PT experiences. The providers at GSM quickly identified muscular imbalances and deficiencies and provided effective programming to address. They also introduced me to some emerging interventions that have been more effective in mitigating chronic knee pain, in a way that several ortho specific practices have fallen short to achieve. Highly recommended.
Just wanted to give a big thanks to Lexi and all the staff at Granite PT.
I suffered injuries from a horse wreck and was scheduled to compete in the Mongal derby the following season.. this is the worlds (toughest and longest horse race ). 1000 km
They got me up and running again in a few months and coached me into the fitness it took to compete again
I completed that race in 7 days 20 hours earning a second place win.
There was no way I could have done it without them
They were a big part of the Win
I’ve had chronic knee pain, bilaterally, for almost six years due to prior injuries, surgeries, and patellar tendonopathy. I tried steroid injections followed by PRP injections, neither of which helped my pain. As an avid skier, still in my twenties, I was incredibly frustrated. I went to Lexi and within 6 sessions my knee pain had improved considerably. If you’re looking for a solid PT, I would recommend Lexi to anyone. She’s brilliant, confident, and up to date on the current science surrounding physical therapy. Not to mention, her energy is infectious and motivational. GSM has a great facility and a friendly staff. If you’re in Livingston or the surrounding area, this is the place to go for your physical therapy needs.
I can’t say enough good things about Granite Sports Medicine. The physical therapy I received here was truly the key to my success in completing my first 50-mile race. From the very first appointment, the team took the time to understand my goals and worked closely with me to build strength, improve mobility, and stay healthy through training.
The care and attention to detail made all the difference, they not only treated my injuries but also helped me prevent new ones, so I could show up on race day feeling strong and ready. Their expertise, encouragement, and support absolutely played a huge role in getting me to the finish line. Lexi, you are my GURL!
If you're an athlete or simply want to move and feel your best, I highly recommend Granite Sports Medicine.
I have been working on trail crews for the last ten years. This work is very physically demanding, and it’s difficult to take care of your body when you’re working in the backcountry. That physical toll plays a major role in why people leave the trade. For me, a significant antidote to that has been training with Darcy. As I’ve worked for the National Park Service over the last ten years, I’ve had the good luck to participate in an ergonomics training with her three different times in three different National Parks! Far from being redundant, I’ve found that the value of those courses has only increased for me over time. Darcy has a very empowering outlook on our relationship with our bodies and how we can deal with injuries and other limitations. It’s rooted in ongoing research in physical therapy, and it has made me much more optimistic. The evidence shows that by being intentional and putting in the work to strengthen and prepare our bodies, we can do the things we love with less pain and less injury. Even if we have damaged ourselves in the past, there is a path forward. Darcy’s instruction has played a significant role in teaching me how to use my body well and how to do my work without hurting myself. I’m getting past the age when the vast majority of trail workers move on to something else, but I feel like I am going strong and well prepared to continue. The leadership in the Parks where I’ve worked has seen the value in this training, and I certainly hope that continues. I’m looking forward to my fourth class! Thanks Darcy!
Dear Doctor Alison, I can't thank you enough for fixing me, all I had to do was do what you told me to do. Luckily I did, I am excellent at following instructions and now I walk without any pain. That is huge especially at 71. I was hiking 6 miles every day last week without any issue.
The plan was slow which made it attainable, you addressed my pain first, then the weight training made the biggest difference. Also I understand now that I shouldn't sit as much but I also need to train to sit if needed. I was at a Bridge Tournament last week and was sitting 6hrs a day without any pain.
I recently began working with Lexi on a confusing bunch of lower extremity issues. She loves to solve the puzzles that bodies, even older ones, can conjure up. Using a fresh new approach to PT she got me all fixed up. She has a wonderful attitude and is very sincere about helping you get yourself healed and back to functioning as fully as possible. Thank you Lexi and GSM!!!
A welcoming, amazing group of healthcare professionals! After a poor experience with physical therapy, I chose Granite Sports Medicine on the recommendation of a friend and never looked back. Alison helped me feel less like an older woman, giving me the tools to exercise and build strength after getting me on the road to fixing my hip issues. Thank you!!
So thankful that our community has you all! Welcoming staff, clean environment, flexibile, knowledgeable, effective and efficient PT's. Alison listens and responds so well. She is caring, considerate, experienced, and continually learning. I am so thankful that I took the step to better myself during my pregnancy and postpartum journey with this crew. Look forward to feeling better and staying that way! Highly recommend this business/service.
My experience addressing a severe back pain/strain at Granite was fantastic. Darcy progressed me through: getting pain relief, then getting back to normal, then strengthening to prevent future injury. She explained the what and why all along the way, and constantly sought my input.
I really do appreciate the team over at Granite Sports Medicine. I have always felt welcomed and respected in all of my treatments and visits. I primarily work with Alison and would totally recommend. She listens to your needs, is a fun person and really cares about your progress and road to whatever goal you are trying to accomplish. They offer a lot of options as far as PT care is concerned including dry needling, cold laser, exercise, stretching, strengthening and more. My experience with Granite and Alison could not have been better once I worked through the initial difficulty of scheduling appointments (mostly due to restrictions set forth by COVID). I have seen results in every aspect of my PT treatment and am glad that I chose Granite...I believe they are one of the top providers in the area!
As an active person, I get my share of injuries. And every time, I call Granite to help me out. Such a friendly and competent staff, who have helped me out on a wide range of issues. I highly recommend them for your next physical mishap!
I am so glad that I found Granite Sports to help me through my current injury. Darcy, Alison, and all the providers use the most update scientific data and research to create a personalized plan to recovery. I truly feel that everyone at Granite Sports was invested in my recovery, and gave me more optimism adn hope than I would have received elsewhere. Commuting from Bozeman is definitely worth it. They also have really cool video technology that allows providers to analyze your movements and workout remotely. I sent Darcy a video of myself doing an exercise at my local gym. Using this technology, she was able to draw angles, forces and other tips directly over my video, and sent it right back to me. Very cool! I feel my recovery has been expedited by going to Granite Sports.
I had an excellent experience working with Alison at Granite for an acute, unexpected neck injury. She helped me recover and then worked with me on preventative strategies, which have helped me make changes that will serve me the rest of my life. I am an active person and I appreciated her attuning to what my daily life was like and adapting her plan accordingly. Also, huge props on the effective dry needling; I am a big fan!
Very friendly staff that gives clear instruction and explains things in a way that I was able to understand. The establishment is very calming and warm feeling, not clinical like what I have seen before. They really helped me get back on my feet and back to work!
These folks are fantastic. Alison is amazingly skilled and talented. A lifetime of neck and shoulder pain is finally starting to ease after just a few weeks of treatment. I'm definitely learning how years and years of taking my body for granted has caused the deep aches in those parts I most neglected and abused. But Alison is showing me how to develop new habits and listen to my body and I no longer end every day with a headache. I absolutely recommend Granite Sports Medicine if you are in need of physical therapy or training. They know their stuff!
Darcy and Allison have been great. They have listened to my concerns and have gotten to the root of my issues. Dry needling has worked wonders for me and it is they only thing that I have found that actually helps with my migraines. I would recommend Granite to anyone looking for long term solutions for their physical health and not a band aid.
I was very pleased with the progress on my ankle from start to finish. Physical therapy at Granite Sports Medicine has been a great experience and they have a full staff of pros! I was surprised by how personable their entire team is. They were flexible and worked to accommodate my schedule as best as possible. I'm happy that it feels like I have a foot again!
My experience with Alison was marvelous. I'm a 75-year-old physician with scoliosis who had walked abnormally my whole life. Alison made me aware of poor positioning that was adding strain to my body. I had five or six musculoskeletal complaints that Alison showed me were all connected and easily remediable! I came in with tightness in my hip, and now feel like a “changed man” — completely better after functional dry needling and tennis ball smashing. It is absolutely mind-boggling how much benefit I got from seeing Alison for only three or four weeks.
Caron Cooper was feeling “busted up” with chronic shoulder and lower back pain and had been holding stress in her body ever since running an intense political campaign the previous year. “I was sick of feeling old and debilitated at the age of 58,” says Cooper.
She saw physical therapist Max Bartlett at Granite Sports Medicine with the goal of feeling better and self-managing her pain. He says Cooper wasn’t eager to do exercises at home so he asked if she was willing to do 10 minutes at day in order to feel better the other 23+ hours a day. “She led herself to the practical conclusion that a few minutes of home exercise was a worthwhile investment. Her willingness to exercise snowballed from that point forward as she began to improve,” Bartlett says.
Cooper’s had two months of physical therapy at Granite Sports Medicine, including dry needling, physical therapy and exercises to do at home. She also got foot orthotics to help with balance. The outcome is that her days are now primarily pain-free, she has more energy, a more positive attitude, and has met her goal of being able to do an exercise class.
“I learned that help doesn’t come from just one thing, but having the whole body treated, and how each part affects the other,” says Cooper. She also enjoys the experience of being at Granite Sports Medicine’s physical office and appreciates that they have appropriate, loose-fitting clothing for her to wear for therapy so she doesn’t have to wear a special outfit on therapy days. “It’s a huge convenience; I can just go and everything’s there,” Cooper says.
I went to GSM following shoulder surgery. After 18 years of guarding my arm, I am finally confident to move it in all directions. Now I can raise my arm straight up and most importantly, play with my boys!
At every GSM visit, from the moment I walk in, every person I interact with is full of enthusiasm! I leave the visit knowing I had the absolute best experience I could have. The staff’s knowledge is unbelievable!
I wish more people knew how much physical therapy can do for your physical and mental health.
Kalie Talley’s daughter, Grace, has Spinal Muscle Atrophy, Type 1, a debilitating genetic neuromuscular disease. Learn more at https://www.facebook.com/teamgracetalley/
Kalie says, “I had lots of back pain; mostly upper back between shoulder blades, middle back and occasional pain with my sciatic nerve. For years I went to a chiropractic as often as every 2 weeks to get relief from the pain but I wasn’t able to afford it anymore. A friend recommend I try dry needling. Needles are definitely not my favorite thing but I was desperate for relief so tried it. After a couple of sessions I was able to go more than a month without any type of maintenance. I went in about every month and a half for a combo treatment of ultrasound and tens unit, and was able to go 3 months between dry needling sessions.
It has helped me in day to day activities like cleaning and taking care of my daughter with no pain or aches. And I’ve been able to tolerate our long car rides to Denver for my daughter’s treatments so much better. It was getting difficult before to take of Grace and pick her up without pain and being conscious of what my limitations were. Now I can just go about my life and do the things I need to do without being in pain or aching at night after the day is over. And I sleep loads better too.
This place has done more for my back than any drug could.
Alison is a gift to Livingston. Thank you for bringing her on board. The combo of her knowledge of the body, her manual work and needling (and nudging) makes me think that a full recovery is possible.
I have had a number of sports injuries over the years including a torn Achilles tendon. I always come back to Granite for injuries when I can, as they are friendly, timely and operate in a professional environment.
We owe so much of our ability to live and love life again to the fantastic GSM staff... Darcy and all of the front office staff! We are able to do simple things such as throw the ball or frisbee for the dogs (shoulder repairs), walk up to the trampoline and swing set with our grandkids (knee repairs), get into a saddle and ride with more strength and less pain, or to hike up to the end of our property to pick wild berries or even just look at the beautiful wildflowers and moss rocks we've been blessed with! Everyone at GSM makes us feel welcome and important. THANK YOU, and CONGRATULATIONS on bringing a fabulous service to Livingston!
The staff is warm and approachable. Your needles are the best!
I think it is great that each employee greets each patient with their name and a smile. It makes your visit start off with a big positive feeling.
I owe GSM a great deal for helping me restore my body and health to normal function, and for continuing to help me as I need tune-ups.
I can now ski, work, and do all the outdoor activities that I have always enjoyed, just like I did prior to injury. I would recommend them for anybody young or old regardless of injury.
The front office staff is always welcoming, fun and positive. They are great with patients, explaining costs and billing for insurance thoroughly, and juggling appointments around work schedules.
My thanks to GSM for making a challenging knee replacement rehab into a great lasting relationship.
Miracle workers! Awesome therapists and fantastic staff.
Darcy’s knowledge of the body is amazing. She utilizes a variety of treatment modalities to best meet one’s changing needs during the healing process. Darcy’s best asset is her ability to be cheerleader for any progress made. Her enthusiasm for her client’s improvement is contagious, regardless how one truly feels. She makes you want to help yourself more.
The office atmosphere is one of friendliness, encouragement, and efficiency. We highly recommend Granite Sports Medicine for physical therapy needs.
You don’t have to drag your feet to show up for physical therapy at this place. Entering Granite Sports Medicine is a happy experience! There is an infectious enthusiasm that helps patients want to get better. Darcy goes out of her way to really show you what’s going on with your body, and seems to genuinely enjoy sharing as much knowledge as possible with her patients. She’s the best.
While recovering from a surgery that involved multiple procedures on one knee, I had lots of questions of which Darcy Cook was always able to answer. Within the first visit, it became apparent that she is passionate about physical therapy. She strives for the best outcomes possible.
It is evident she stays informed with the latest in physical therapy news and advances in technology regarding the profession. Darcy is organized and thoughtful about her individualized treatment protocols.
Thanks to her and to the staff at Granite Sports Medicine, I left each visit feeling positive about my recovery. We are lucky to be able to receive such care in the state of Montana.
I suffered a severe fall while skiing, which fractured my neck badly and tore my left ACL.
Darcy put her full attention and training to work with my injuries before and after surgery, and over the next 8 months helped me overcome partial paralysis in my left arm, rehabilitated my neck and knee injuries, and regained the strength, muscle tone and fitness that I had prior to my accident.
She gave me exercises and therapies to use at home and at the gym, and answered my questions any time I needed help. While physical therapy is not a fun process to go through, Darcy and her staff made it as enjoyable as possible, and were very accommodating to my schedule and needs. We always managed to laugh at the pain somehow!
